Smash – Comic and Manga Reader App Reviews

Almost perfect!

Love this app, its almost perfect! Got two big bugs: it does not recognize .cbr files and lately its crashing a lot!!! Some suggestions: - more folders options (more collors, delete button, etc) - folders inside folders... (sub-folders need it!) Keep the good work folks!

Its nice, but leaves room for improvement

Its really polished and generally behaves well. Got a good feel to it. But the comic viewer itself is just awful (hence the low rating). Fundamentally, this thing should allow you to read your comics. But the zoom is screwy (zooming in closer in portrait view than landscape, which is puzzling), shows artifacts (black box and quite choppy whilst zooming), and feels almost like an after thought. I do hope future versions fix the engine and make it more robust (swiping pages shrinks each new back tithe default size). As is, Id hold off as there are competing readers that do a better job.

Great App

The app is fantastic and work great with Dropbox.

Great

The Good: This app is excellent. Organize comic books into folders, sync, import and resizes the pages perfectly. The Bad: doesnt support iphone 6 sizing its is desperate need of an update with airdrop added as well

Dont work

I have ipod 5 with ios 8 and dont work :(

A Top-Notch Comic Reader

For an introductory price of "free", this app has been nothing short of amazing, with one exception. Creating folders/comic boxes for a series is easy and straightforward. I highly enjoy the option for the comic to fill the width of the screen (whether in portrait or landscape). I absolutely love that by touching the bottom of the screen, you can have the comic page automatically scroll down by about 1/3 of the page ( I can read an issue using only taps on the screen, no scrolling required), which works for me 80% of the time. The only negative is that it seems you have to manually enter a bookmark to save your place within a comic; an automatic page save would be one way around this. Overall, a great app!

Good app, flaw

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY HIDE THE STATUS BAR WHILE READING

Needs better sorting options

Its an okay comic app. The presentation is pretty easy on the eyes, and the zoom to width is great. My biggest problem with it is its inability to sort automatically via alphanumerics at the very least. It would be even better if you could tag comics via date/titles and such but to sort by file name would be a huge enough help to sort a huge collection. Another annoyance is that the pages take a while to load into focus. Your mileage may vary on this one, and youll get used to it over time but its there. Sometimes when it does finish loading a page some parts of the page remain unfoucused or blurry... Like it wasnt able to load that part of the page. Turning into and out of the page will almost always correct that problem, but still, the fact that it exists is annoying. It also doesnt save the last page youve read in a comic automatically, so you would need to manually create a bookmark. Ive learned to live with the annoyances but theres definitely room for improvement. Heres hoping for more updates.

Good reader app with a GREAT feature

The Auto-Zoom feature elevates this app to greatness and sets it apart from other comic readers. Tapping through a comic in landscape mode is so easy, and I love how you see the full page for a second when you turn pages before it zooms in. Please update with a way to remove the status bar in full screen view! And some gamma filters for improving contrast would be great.

Slow, needs better sorting

One of the first comic book readers thats supports the Retina Display iPad. Unfortunately, rendering performance borders on awful, making the reading experience pretty terrible. Loading comics is a bit of a chore, but that is largely an iTunes limitation. The app desperately needs the ability to sort by file name.

No Dropbox sync in iOS 8

Guys please fix Dropbox sync in iOS 8 :( that was my favorite feature
